Why the name Ettle?
A special name for the journey ahead.
An old Scots word meaning:
To intend.
To aim.
To direct one’s course.
It speaks to something deeply human—the feeling that wherever we are in life, there may still be another question to ask, another contribution to make, or another direction worth exploring.
A student may be searching for where to begin. A working professional may be wondering what comes next. A retired professional may be discovering that purpose does not end when a career does.
Wherever we are in life, something meaningful may still be ahead.
That is the spirit of the name Ettle: we may be at different places in our lives, but we can still help one another find the way forward.
How Ettle began
Ettle began with people in healthcare sitting down together.
Over cups of coffee, shared meals, and many long conversations, students, working professionals, and retired professionals talked honestly about their experiences in healthcare—where they had been, what they were learning, and what they hoped might come next.
As we listened to one another, an idea began to take shape: an online community that could feel as genuine and welcoming as those conversations around the table. A place where people from different generations and healthcare disciplines could share what they know, ask honest questions, and learn from one another.
Ettle began around a table. Now the conversation can continue here.
